Liverpool lightweight Tom Stalker makes progress in EU Boxing Championships
TOM STALKER took his first step towards retaining his EU Championships gold medal in Odense yesterday.
Liverpool’s British lightweight champion defeated Michal Chudecki of Poland 15-6 over in Denmark to progress through to today’s second round.
St Aloysius southpaw Stalker said afterwards: “I boxed really well and was happy with that start. I got into the fight straight away.
“I now box the Hungarian kid on Wednesday night to ensure at least bronze, but I want gold again.”
Bantam Luke Campbell of Hull, who won European Junior gold here last summer, was among a crop of eight Brits to progress yesterday, in the last major event before the World Championships in Milan in September
