I just had a little squizz Parkers says £900 with average miles (Average being 90k) Autotrader shows them to be around £1200-£1400 with a low, 50,000ish miles

Well £1200-£1400 for a 50k mile car, and £900 for a 90k mile car. Find out what milage is on yours and find out where it would sit on that price scale

So the Microbe has pretty much held its money... Ok, Ok, Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDi - '51 - average miles (80k) - Good condition £2200 on parkers.... Autotrader £2200-£2600 for 60k - 80k mile cars....

I'll have to check mileage on the Picasso. Still not brilliant, but that's depreciation innit.

A lot has to do with the type of car as well. MPVs have evolved a lot over more recent years due to their high demand. Unfortunatly, the older cars dont have as many toys etc as the newer cars and I think that has also pushed the prices down Still, £2k+ for something French - cant be that bad

I guess it'll help. Still pondering what to replace it with. The whole reason we went from a W reg Megane to mummy wagon was due to boot space (camping, pushchairs, general kid paraphenalia). But the kids don't needany clobber now. Plus camping space prob could be solved with a roof box or a trailer.
Ponder, ponder.

It really depends how big you want the car to be.... As its the "Family" car I guess it must be bigger than the Microbe, but smaller, and a bit more car like than the Picasso. You can get Diesel Mondeos for similar money to what the Citroen is worth and they have a huge boot

Mondeo - that's just another swaer word. Definitely don't want a Focus either.
Diesel would be a good idea, though I don't think we make that many long-distance trips these days to warrant it.
I do like Renaults. Thought about a Laguna, but you'll just tell me their crap.

French cars have a tendancy to fall apart and generally break.
However, I do belive you will get a Laguna, Xsara, 206 or 307 SW for that sort of money too....
