my fiesta is dying ive got fuel in the oil, its burning oil, its smoking badly and ive got a knocking noise in the engine when i rev it like somethings loose any ideas? ive bin told to start looking at another engine thinking of sticking the puma engine in thanks!

how old is it? which model etc? the body good on it?

its a 2000 zetec s and everything else bout the car is great

big ends? and head problems? probs would be cheaper for them new engine. as for a puma engine the mounts should be the same always worth cheaking tho.

i give up ive had nothing but trouble with this car had to change a sparkplug recently that had been cross threaded and had burned out the electrode now this!

Fuel in oil is more than likley the piston rings, have you any smoke out of the car?

Is yours a Phase 1 or Phase 2 Zetec S?

lots when i rev it and its black! mine is the phase 1 mate

so the black means overfuelling, have you fitted an aftermarket chip? either way i would start looking for a new engine.

for a 1.7 conversion it works out around 800qid.

were would i go to get the conversion for £800? i havent got a chip its all standard

thats a diy price, garages could charge 1.5k for the conversion.

whats the mileage on the engine, beig a phase1, theyre known for notbein very reliable after 80ish K. i had a ZS a while back and had the same problem, the big ends went and it was a new engine jobbie. i got a ph2 engine with 35k on the clock fully fitted for £1000 all in at Olympic Autos in New Ferry. Great service and had the car back within 4 days, nd the engine and all parts came with a years gaurantee.

if u go to the garage they source them themselves from somewhere, as i said i was charged £1000 for engine, fluids, belts etc fully fitted with a 12 month warrenty.
