Number of Police Officers killed in the line of duty (murders, accidents) in the last 12 months: 10
Number of MPs killed in the line of duty in the last 12 months: 0
Number of assaults on Police Officers at work in 2006 (recorded): 60 per day
Number of assaults on Police Officers at work in 2006 (actual): 600 per day (my estimate)
Number of assaults on MPs at work in 2006: 0 per day Its about feckin time they made the MP's experience what real life is like, and put them on the streets to see first hand what the police have to deal with. Also, they should scrap PCSO's full stop, they are useless and arnt even a "deterrent" for anyone wanting to cause trouble. As for punishment, I have some pretty extreme views on how criminals who commit a crime that deserves a custodial sentence should be treated, but I wont go into that. As for the area's that suffer from ASB, they should not be patrolled by regular Police, we should instead call our troops from bloody Iraq and Afghanistan and sort out our own back yard by deploying the army in ASBO related trouble spots. How many of these "ded ard" chavs who make every decent hard working persons life a misery would be so ard then... This country really needs to get tough on crime and make prison a punishment and deterrent. At the moment, the government are quite happy to leave things as they are cos they dont have a clue what life is like for normal people, and moreso the people on the frontline, ie the police. The UK is a criminals heaven right now, and its always the police who get blamed. The problem actually lies in the justice system and the root cause of the problems is the government!!

At the moment, the government are quite happy to leave things as they are cos they dont have a clue what life is like for normal people, and moreso the people on the frontline, ie the police. As well as the fact the "Government" are the remnents of the 60s - 70s "We hate the police", CND, SWP, and other ... lot, who show daily that their attitudes have not changed since their "OH so brilliant but cheap and nasty polytech" anti "susslaw" protest days, sitting in the smokey back rooms of hovel like pubs, sipping their halves of Higsons mild, plotting "The revolution". Shower of.....!! na ja. You fill in what YOU want that to mean.

Just watching Question Time (UK Nova cap from BBC One the other night), quality quote from Piers Morgan: This government is happy to spend £6billion on blowing up Iraq, but wont spend £30million to pay the police force, who have to pick up the pieces, when the inevitable revenge attacks comes, due to our policy on Iraq, and that, is totally shameful.
If I were running the police force, id say you know what were going to do, to Jackie Smith, who sits there earning twice as much as guys, who everyday, these men and women, whether you like the police force or not, whether youve had a good experience or bad, indisputably, go out, not knowing if thats the day they are going to get shot, stabbed, beaten up or just generally abused in the street, whilst protecting us. Jackie Smith has protection, from police, my recommendation for police, is to take it away, she doesnt want to pay them their £200 each, take those guys away, put them on strike, you see how long that home secretary survives without her personal police protection, answer, she wouldnt.
This is a totally shameful attack on people who right now, everyday hear people like Hazel Blears, Jackie Smith and others say, we have never faced a bigger terrorist threat in this country, the police are there to protect us and they are being treated shamefully!
