Is it right to pay for your TV Licence when
your paying for another service.

There have been roumers that the TV Licence as we
know it could even be scrapped ?

Firstly, the TV license wont be scrapped, as under the new charter it will run until the end of 2011, so thats put an end to that rumor.

The TV License is something people always object to, but without it, we would lose a LOT of things. The TV License currently provides users with:

No fewer then 10 television Channels
- BBC One
- BBC Two
- BBC Three
- BBC Four
- BBC News 24
- BBC Parliament
- CBBC Channel
- Cbeebies
- S4C
- Plus regional varients
- BBC HD
- BBC British Forces Broadcasting
- BBC America
- UKTV Network (although is mainly commercially funded)

No fewer then 56 radio stations:
- BBC Radio 1
- BBC Radio 2
- BBC Radio 3
- BBC Radio 4
- BBC Radio 5 Live
- BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra
- BBC Radio 6 Music
- BBC Radio 7
- BBC Asian Network
- BBC Radio Scotland
- BBC Radio Scotland Gaelic
- BBC Radio Wales
- BBC Radio Cymru
- BBC Radio Ulster
- BBC Radio Foyle
- BBC World Service
- 40 Regional BBC Radio Stations

Internet/Websites/Other Services
- BBC.co.uk (one of the best websites on the planet imho)
- BBC Archive
- BBC Learning
- BBC iPlayer
- BBCi Interactive Television
- BBC News (the most unbiased new corp in the world, with correspondents all over the planet)
- Freeview DTT
- Freeview DST (launching 2008)
- BBC Monitoring
- BBC Sport
- The Olympics
- The FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championships
- Many other major sporting events broadcast FTA.
- BBC Drama & Productions
- BBC Youth Development Services
- BBC Big Screens Around The Country
- BBC Charity Support
- BBC Worldwide
- BBC Broadcasting Services (Responsible for television transmitters around the UK)
- BBC Arts & Culture

I believe yes its more then fair to charge the license fee. Its well worth it, the news service alone justifies the cost. BBC News is the only news service in the UK that will not only critisize the UK government outright and without holding back, but also the only news corporation on the face of this earth that will critisize itself when it is wrong.

Personally I am playing a bit of a game with them, I havent paid my TV license in 18 months lmao, but as soon as they actually come looking for me, I will be happy to. I find it rather amusing the amount of money they waste on TV License cops and yet all they have done in 18 months is send me two letters reminding me to get a TV license, the dimwits only need to check the Sky database and they will see I am a subscriber lol.

Dont forget also, that Channel 4 will NEED license fee funding by 2009 to stay afloat, if the license fee is scrapped, then we will lose Channel 4 altogether.

The best thing about the whole BBC services is of course:

NO ADVERTS!!! thumbsup

BBC news and Radio one (which only rocks cas of Chris Moyles) All the rest I hardly watch, listen to or use!

I'd much prefer adverts than the TV Licence
