Local Democracy - Click Me

You can Read the Notes from council meetings in your area,
they can be shocking and entertaining at the same time.

I'm sure if you click on your area there is something to debate about.

For Example i found in there notes someone asking the council
to clarify there laws on Kerb and Verge Parking.
We will get back to you

Funny All Traffic Wardens seem to know it all.

Emergency Decisions 7 June 2004

Minute Text :
The Director of Highway and Engineering Services reported concerning the need for an urgent decision on tenders received for Phase 2 of the Saughall Massie Road Improvement scheme and recommends acceptance of the lowest tender.

An urgent decision was required to enable orders to be placed for specialist materials (some of which were subject to long lead-in times) to allow work to start on site in June, to make best use of the fine weather during the excavation period.

Minute Decision :
Following consultation with the Party Leaders on 3 June, and in the absence of any objection to the course of action outlined in the report, the Chief Executive and the Director of Highway and Engineering Services, acting in accordance with paragraph 23 (b) of Part 3 of the constitution, accepted the lowest tender (that submitted by Dowhigh Limited in the sum of £1,194,076.86) for Phase 2 of the Saughall Massie Road improvement scheme.

£1,194,076.86 For a New Road wow...

Over a million pound but yet they keep the 86p at the end.
You think they would round it up wouldn't you lol raftl

See the first post, and click on the link,
do some routing on that page, you can find out where you
council tax is being spent.

It wont take much digging before you say "noooooo way"

I guess my post above was looking at what was declared
as a "Emergency Meeting" And those were the comments of that
meeting.

I'm shocked to see that 1 million + for a little road omg

It may look like a "little road" to you, but you are not realising the costs involved of road development.

The road is probably actually good value. They dont just come along and plonk some tarmac down wherever they feel like it, a new road needs years of planning, land and structural surveys, feasability studies, consideration of alternative options, planning applications, consultation with local residents and road users, and this is even before they have bought any land rights that they need to or a digger has started to make its way to start the actual building of the road.

Many roads even need a government enquiry before they are allowed to be built, mainly at local level, but sometimes they go all the way to the home office. This alone is not cheap.
