Sorry to hear that. Did he confirm it had been dispatched?? They use Parceline to deliver, they are quite good, mine took a few days to come, but I was given a lead time of 7 - 10 days for the service to come live, it came live after 8 but I already had the router about 4 or 5 days before.

Its a pity they don't allow temporary settings to be used on peoples own routers when situations like this arise, but I can see why they want everyone to use their own router (cuts down on the number of problems and therefore support calls and also helps them deal with support calls more efficiently).

Hope ya get it asap matey, the sooner ya on the service the better, will be good to see some more feedback and opinion.

Gutted for you mate. Whats actually going on with the router? Have they actually sent it out as yet and its held up or have they just not bothered to send it?? Or did they not say.

From them saying Wednesday, it sounds like logistics havent even sent it out yet!

According to one person, it was sent out last week, along with a letter and i should of got it on Friday.

Spoke to someone again, who said they dont normally send it out untill 3 - 5 working days after the activation of the line, i should receive it the end of this week.

Thats weird, they sent mine a week prior to the activation of the line.

I think someones made a booboo somwhere along the lines here and doesnt want to admit it. So their pretending their policies are different now.

By the way if you need to get ahold of Sky for enquiries relating to Broadband, there is a freefone number, its:

0800 051 2595

Just tried it and it works no problems, the call was answered literally straight away. I think its a number that home install engineers use lol, but they cant tell the difference at their end.

Lol you should have asked him to remind you where Sky One is on their EPG laugh

The router is Sky managed, they have worked it all so you just plug in and go like you say. You can get access to the router config though, use the following details:

IP Address - 192.168.0.1
Username - admin
Password - sky

How imaginative was that password lmao. How has the service been so far? Has it been choppy/intermittent at all as apparently it can take upto 9 days for the DSLAM to fully settle with the fact your on a ULL connection as opposed to a standard L2TP connection. Didnt happen on mine though.

I get the L2TP one, but other members might not?

DSLAM - Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer
ULL/LLU - Local Loop Unbudling
L2TP - Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol

A DSLAM basically distributes the ADSL connections to different users.

Local Loop Unbundling is when an ISP had its own hardware in the local exchange and its own national network and is basically free from BT and therefore able to provide whatever services, speeds and pricing it wants to.

L2TP is essentially a vitrual LAN connection, basically the ADSL connection. Uusually this is provided by BT unless the user is on a ULL connection.
