Just wondering would it be expensive to change the engine a drive gear in a herald to fit a rover v8. Would it be possible to get a garage to do it for under a £1000???

This would ideally need to be done by a specialist. I dont personally know anywhere that will take such a job on so try searching the net.

You'd be looking at closer to £2-2.5K, and then you've gotta buy the engine and box.

That seems a bit steap, it only an normaly aspirated engine. All it would need is the rover back axle mounting and engine and the prop shaft shotening to suit. You sure 2-2500 k???

The mounts will need altering aswell surely, and wiring. Its not going to be cheap rhys. I have no idea what the engine bay and underneath of a herald is like but it is going to be a big job. Why u ask?

Rhys could you not fabricate a sub frame mount the engine on it with axels. then the only real work is mating the engine to the gearbox unless your using the rover gearbox that if it fits in the tunnel. this seems like a strange combo and im thinking its hotrod style. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.roversd1.nl/sd1web/techtalk/v8charger.gif)

I want v8 power and raw ha ha ha. Keep an eye on this space in about 4 weeks lol. What i will have then is a standard model something,, and it will be then getting altered over a period of months, would like whateva i get completed by crimbo. I am going to get something with a mot so i can drive it imediatley. Am sure automotion will be seeing me quite soon. I like this one, the whole herald front lifts up for easy work and easy conversion. This one here is a v8 http://pages.zoom.co.uk/rmad/v8herald.htm

why don t you sell the car and buy some thing ait more of what you want instead of spending a load of money on a jag, then selling it on like you did with the punto

I am quite happy with the car Ive got at the moment but the kind of car I want to have fun in wont be suitable to do 34000 miles a year in.

Rhys, all I can say is since you told me about your plans last week, I am nearing my conclusion that you are a bit insane sometimes haha. But I love it and I hope you do this, it will certainly be something well worth seeing.

Easy access to the herald engine as it is a flip front bonnet, fixed by clasps just behind the front wheels. Plenty of engine space. Be careful working around the chrome headlight surrounds as they're £80 a piece! Rover v8 Sounds good to me
