I came across 3 poor quality photographs with the title,
"Wounded Belgian and British soldiers being nursed back to health at Shrewsbury Rd and Devonshire Place"
Shrewsbury Rd was a convalescent home (number not yet known)
25 Devonshire Place was an annexe of the Borough Hospital
It appears the driving force behind this hospital was Roy Laird and supported by many generous local people who bought beds at £6 each and bedside lockers and tables at 38s each. Miss Alice Laird donated £21 towards the setting up of the operating theatre.
63 Hamilton Square was offered by the Laird family to be used for whatever was thought fit towards the war effort.
Other hospitals' including Auxiliary. (not complete yet)
RAMC, Palm Grove Manor Hill Bidston Ave Mersey Park Hemingford St Temple Rd

There were loads, Wallasey Town Hall is the main one I remember although that was a military rather than a civic hospital.

All of the above were Military as far as I know.
Wallasey New Town Hall was completed around August 1916 at a cost of £100,000, building, fixtures and fittings. The first batch of soldiers were admitted in October 1916. It had 350 beds. Funds were being raised to supply 2 Ambulances at £200 each.

63 Hamilton Square was used by the Soldiers and Sailors Association and also a hostel for Lairds workers at 8s a night.
The Convalescent Home was 34 Shrewsbury Rd.

63 Hamilton Sq was also taken over by the Admiralty.
6 James St, off Balls Rd was a convalescent home, former home of Dr Alice Ker. 11 rooms.
Queen Mary pushed for and was the driving force for all soldiers and sailors to convalesce in their home localities, mostly achieved.
