Work and Pensions Secretary Thérèse Coffey confirmed the new post-Brexit benefits system, which means all migrants are treated the same – no matter where they arrived from. Specifically, this means EU migrants can no longer claim benefits in the UK for 5 years.
Farage is overjoyed:
Farage tweeted: “EU migrants can’t claim benefits for 5 years now. Another UKIP policy goes mainstream.”
Is this of interest to anyone ???

This or similar has been the policy in many EU countries, about time we were allowed to fall in line.
If done properly this doesn't have to be disadvantageous to genuine asylum seekers or ex-colonials etc but hopefully it will put a stop to those that are just trying it on, especially those that abandon their women and children.
It is not ideal but its the compromise that many other country's have chosen for good reason.

I suspect we may have difficulty in stopping people leaving soon.
Like Boris' dad who has applied for a French passport.
And of course Scotland!

This or similar has been the policy in many EU countries, about time we were allowed to fall in line. Are the rules different in some EU countries than others? If so, no wonder Brexit happened. Every country had its own qualifying rules and benefits, there are also individual agreements between different countries within the EU. There are continual negotiations to unify tax and benefits but this is just another step into becoming the United States of Germany. Making the EU one big Republic doesn't help, look at the countries that are bigger than the UK - in order. China India USA Indonesia Pakistan Brasil Nigeria Bangladesh Russia Mexico Japan Ethiopia Philippines Egypt Vietnam DRC Turkey Iran Germany Thailand How many of them are aspirational/inspirational examples of how size helps?
