The last ambitious plans I saw somewhere for the regenerated new Ferry shopping centre seemed to show most of the car park sacrificed for housing. Hardly any parking space lft for shoppers cars.

Plentiful free parking seems the one asset New Ferry has a a shopping centre and cutting this down to a the small number shown in the plan seemed to me to be extremely short sighted, unless the idea is to abandon it as a shopping centre entirely.

Presumably much needed money will be made from selling this land off, but it seems extremely short sighted to me.

That depends on your desire to want to drive to shop. I dont think new ferry can compete in that market so a different model needs applying. A bigger park and less shops would be my vision of a greener nicer place.
I go through it every morning and its strewn with drinkers litter.

Everything totally underutilised, three public car parks and three public parks which are nearly empty a lot of the time.

I had the analysis and stats for the car parks but I've lost it. Grove Street car park with about 85 spaces is going to be untouched, Woodhead Street car park will probably be reduced to 42 spaces and the remaining one parallel to School lane that has 23 spaces will probably have 29 spaces. If I remember rightly that stats at the time showed that Grove Street car park alone could have handled all the existing parking but we will probably end up with with around 150 public parking spaces.

There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. David Osland 2025

Well, we shall see.

I might point out that if the intention is to double the footfall in New Ferry, it will probably involve double the necessary parking too. Possibly more if car ownership rises.

There is already heavy street parking in Legh St, Brownlow Road and Marquis St.Did the analysis look at that? Last time I looked at Woodhead St car park it was about 75% occupied.

Led Zeppelin NO Quarter
Maybe if used the allocated money to help the teens from trying to commit suicide would of been better spent. I walked through New Ferry a few times didn't even Notice the Art work on my walk to Asda. The teens are smoking this weed what smells like cat ---- and now using GAS to be happy so so low.
