A movie made around Birkenhead called The Violators is now available on Netflix.
The Hollywood Reporter describes it as 'a bracing bleak blast of social realism from a
corner of England rarely seen on screen'.
Meanwhile another American magazine, Variety, describes it as being set in a rundown suburb in
the picturesque English county of Cheshire!
I initially thought it was in Manchester as there was a reference to Mancland and there
are some Manc accents and NO scouse ones. Weird.
Nice to see my house made it to the big screen.

Silence. Sorry thought the fact a Hollywood blockbuster was filmed in Birkenhead might be of interest,.

I'd have liked to watch it but unfortunately haven't got Netflix. I'll look out for it coming on other channels.

Film was made in 2015 ... I've just downloaded it from a well know *orrent site - will watch it next week as on holiday in the sunshine meantime :-)

I guess we are well used to our local area being filmed, often as a substitute for another location.
So, while Birkenhead is not being named, it is not being slagged off either.

Film was written and directed by Wirral author Helen Walsh, location around Birkenhead Dock area.
