I'm having a problem with the gears in my corsa, it's an automatic. Had a new air filter put in Friday, went to go out put it in drive & it wouldn't go tried reverse same.Gone through a few things but it's still coming up on dashboard with F & the car with the spanner on the dash as well, stuck without it.

Check your brake lights are working (can be switch or bulb), easytronic goes ape with brake light failure including the symptoms you describe.

You need someone to read the error codes (there is a manual method without a reader, I'll try and find it later if I have time).

Or I could pop round with my reader which may or may not read the relevant codes (its only a cheap one).

Retrace your steps. If it was fine before the filter change then something has been damaged, knocked or left unconnected.

Nothing on my code reader so used the in-built manual code reader and got 1700 which basically says there is something unknown wrong with the transmission (helpful as always).

Tried battery off for about 15mins (which isn't enough) and no difference.

Nothing around the air filter box that could affect transmission and the air mass meter there must be ok because engine runs fine without kicking up error codes.

Reset the inspection warning light which made no difference.

Brake lights ok.

Transmission start inhibit ok (we accidentally found that out - as you do).

Had a quick look at fuses, most weren't transparent ones and I wasn't going to pull every one out, owners manual wasn't accurate to the fusebox (bank of 3 fuses missing in the car including 54 which is the big one for easytronic transmission)

Starakita going to try battery off for an hour and see if that changes anything.

After 2 weeks finally got the problem sorted,it was a fuse. Van came this morning after reading up on it,turned the car on left it in neutral took a fuse out for a couple of minutes put it back, problem sorted,so back on the road.Been shown what to do if it happens again.
Like to thank everyone for their help to try & sort it.
