There's a call this morning for British IS fighters to be killed. As much as I oppose capital punishment, in this instance I would agree. What else can be done with them ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-41717394

A simple-minded inhumane solution which clearly appeals to the simple minded and inhumane.

Not quite sure why its news...If they are fighting against us then like any enemy they can be killed. We don't have laws in this country to kill them if they return (or do we ?) . If they are captured in another country then I would have thought the laws governing that country should apply. We didn't execute all German POWs. Torture might be better...lock em up and make them listen to Justin Bieber for the rest of their lives

Double standards usually take priority in such matters. Those who think euthanasia should be made legal, and consider it the right solution for others !?
Yet the same would be prepared for their grandchildren to witness heads on spikes around Arrow park roundabout , as happened on that now famous roundabout in Raqqa and have no feeling of anything other but 'love' to the perpetrators !!
Very strange.

We haven't declared war, therefore we have no legal authority to kill anyone unless we are defending our land against an attack. If they are captured or if they surrender we have no legal authority to kill them.
Generally I'm in favour of bringing back the death sentence but spineless politicians combined with media control will never let it happen. Perhaps the fake news media are frightened of being executed for treason.
I'm trying to remember if desertion is still a capital offence in the UK forces, I don't remember it being repealed. That would be double standards if its still in force.

Something in his water would suit me , oh dear he's had a heart attack

The way I see it, is they converted to Islam, they were happy to do so, therefore let Islam deal with their ending.
The Christian bunny will be pulled out of the hat somewhere along the line. In this instance Christian values should not interfere into a non Christian ethics . ( and interference only happens when it appeals to the non Christians trying to score brownie points). I also thing that the Church and the Archbishop should keep out of it. There is nothing to say that these fighters will not encourage others to do the same again, either by their incarceration or through their families and contacts.

The thing is if we where going to kill them isn't this what they want? I myself think if they are happy to kill themselves will the threat of being killed stop them? I may be on my own but I say pump their veins with bacon fat

I've already pointed out the attraction of this idea to the simple-minded. There is really no need to demonstrate the truth of my observation with more posts.

I think the clown who called for this is trying to improve his political profile. As Wilde pointed out: "There is only one thing worse than being talked about and that is NOT being talked about"!
Very true in politics.
He's also pro-EU by the way!

I believe all capital offences were taken off the Statute Book in 1998. Offences like Mutiny On The High Seas, Arson In A Naval Dockyard etc.

Anyway, it appears it has changed with the worst penalties being an unlimited fine or five years in the slammer.
