Liverpool airport evacuated after scanner problem The departure lounge at Liverpool John Lennon Airport was evacuated after "a technical problem" with its passenger scanning machines. Airport officials said there was no threat to safety with travellers needing to be rescreened. A spokesman for the airport said: "Due to a technical problem with one of the airport's passenger scanning machines, all passengers have been removed from the departure lounge and are currently in the process of being rescreened. "There is no threat to passenger safety with this rescreening process necessary in order to ensure security compliance." click here for link

radiation risk? or just sensational journalism "evacuated".
Machine breaks down and all the standing queuing people are asked to go and find a seat and be called back to queue when machine is fixed.. Gets reported as an evacuation.
Is there only one scanner there?
