Try statins.

In my case taking Simvastatin not only lowered my cholesterol but cured my snoring ...er overnight. I don't know how old you are but many doctors are in favour of prescribing them for everyone over 50, irrespective of their level of cholesterol, as a preventative measure. They claim that this would enormously reduce heart attacks and strokes.

They don't suit everyone, but I've been on them for years with no side effects except stopping my snoring.

I have no idea whether this is just me or everyone who takes them, and obviously you should discuss it with your doctor, but it was a very welcome side effect in our house!

If you snore more loudly on your back, you could try sewing something uncomfortable on the back of your pj jacket to deter you from settling in that position . You could ask the chemist what other solutions are commercially available , I think theres strips to hold your nostrils wider and stuff like that, and at the other end of the scale , in severe cases, its a visit to the GP for more radical solutions like surgical intervention to the shape of the throat --but even that isnt always a 100% solution.Not an easy problem, but good luck.

Oh and apparently in some people, both dairy products and alcohol consumed after early evening can leave you with a blocked up feeling nose, which can translate into noisier breathing.

I'm told that losing weight might help but not if you are not overweight in the first place.

tell the Mrs she farts a lot when she's sleeping, that should give her something to think about and stop her complaining about your problem smile

You can buy a snore ring from Holland & Barrett, i got one and it works for me, although i have to put it on the opposite little finger to what they say,

i have no idea but it does, it goes on your little finger and in a particular spot, it just works though, but on the opposite finger to what women wear it on, as men wear it on the other little finger,
```A drug-free, chemical-free ring designed with principles of acupressure. Recommended to be worn on the little finger, the vintage copper style ring applies a slight pressure to a specific meridian line. Incorporates 2 small magnets. Available in 1 size (Medium/Large) which is fully adjustable to fit. Heavy snorers often find that wearing two rings, one on each little finger, work better than one alone. ```
Sounds like hocum. Id be interested in seeing a non-funded scientific study on how a ring can prevent snoring.
I snore a lot and losing weight is the only thing that helps.
That ring is on there, lots of good reviews too.
And some info here about acupressure. Its sad to thing that these ancient remedies have been discounted in facour of harsh chemical solutions.
