I have the 'Tales of Egg & Dunk' trilogy which is a prequel to the Songs of Ice & Fire series, on Ebook. I also have Fevre Dream which is about vampires [So I won't be reading it]. If you want them, pm me & I'll email them to you.

I have just discovered the author Mandasue Heller.

I found an un-read book of hers that I had 'got' from somewhere (freecycle or a charity shop probably).

Was that gripped by her story-telling that I went and cleared the shelves at Seacombe library for more of her works....

The rest I will 'dial in' from other library branches.

She lists Martina Cole as her inspiration- never read any of her books either- she will be next on my list once I've exhausted Mandasue. Anybody familiar with either authoress??

Still wading through Martina Cole books BUT as I went to Wallasey Central Library last week, I was in Book Heaven (like a big kid in a sweet shop when I'm in a big library)and grabbed a load (pushing my 16 book borrow limit to the max).LOL

Anyhow, I am currently reading 'The Workhouse' by Norman Longate

I have always been interested in Victorian times and was very interested in the Workhouse, as a project for GCSE History. This book is much more 'in-depth' than GCSE but also fascinating. 'Wordy' though. Not like the novel 'The Workhouse Girl' by Dilly Court, that I am also reading concurrently...

Too many books, too little time...

Ingenious Pursuits by Lisa Jardine.
Building the Scientific Revolution.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

My second attempt at this weighty tome. Sadly, Lisa Jardine died last month. She was the daughter of Dr Jacob Bronowski. Hands up if you are "mature" (cough) enough to remember him from his science programmes on the TV many moons ago!
