Forums Forums For Sale - Items VOLVO 850 AUTOMATIC WITH MPG PROBLEMS

Iam selling my Volvo850 automatic car, reluctantly I have to get rid because all of a sudden, just a few weeks after sailing through an MOT , it has developed a problem which has seen the mpg drop alarmingly. In truth I am getting about five miles to the gallon and my emission levels have soared....When it was driving normally it was the most comfortable car I have ever owned and really anyone interested would get a decent car if they could sort out problem...bodywork excellent for age, one or two minor blemishes, no rust and armchair comfort leather seats....glove compartment is knackered as my wife forced it open when she could not key it....slight oil leak from bottom of engine....I have been offered a decent figure scrap value but would prefer to sell it to someone who might be able to fix it....it is on SORN and situated in West Kirby. I have tried to be as honest as possible but at the end of the day , although the car is running fine, I am selling the car sold as seen for spares or repair, so it is sold as seen...£195.00

Change the mass air flow meter or disconnect it.

I had the same problem with my old one.

I used switch cleaner on my Old Volvo MAF and it worked a treat, it did become a regular task though.

Shame when they get to old to invest in. Great cars.

Have got a nice 54 plate s60 D5 with equally heated comfy seats and a long ticket going spare if you fancy another Volvo.

IMO 5mpg would suggest a leak rather than poor performance.

Fish....I have had garage look at it and the opinion is that it is to do with maf system but that it requires a specialist check which they cant perform the only place on Wirral capable of doing this is a place I choose not to use....I will probably get a car spares company to pick it up and give me a few bob for it in the end....the annoying thing is the car runs superbly but sadly at a cost because of mpg

Do you have a photo of it?

It is parked off road on Sorn in West Kirby....I will go up there tomorrow morning early to take photo...not too sure how to post it on here though
