right i was made up today when i got a quote for £170 a month insurance on a 106 gti, from elephant! you may think thats bad but ive had 3 bumps so thats quite good compared to flux's £5641 for the year! but is it worth paying for it? i no people iwil say ive spent loads on mine laready but eventualy ill want a gti so that doesnt bother me. itll have 130 bhp, leather, discs all round and abs, all taht mine havnt! so do i take the plunge now and go for it or wait a wee bit longer?

Agree with webby. When you do buy the GTi though - boot, bonnet, and wheels MUST be swapped!

170PM is a bit much isnt it,and for what you get for that money its not really any different. Y not just get some GTi bits put on ur current car. im sure you can find a scrapper somewhere u can take the interior out of,or even get urs retrimmed to be better than a gti. Rear beam and discs should be easy to find, there must be hudreds of GTis/VTS' in the yards. Prolly even a specialist peugeot citreon breakers somehwere

I wouldn't pay that much insurance for a 106. For a porsche or Ferrari maybe, but not a 106.
Talking about mad insurance quotes, I once got quoted about £19k on a Polo G40 with Lloyds TSB lol
