I personally thought it was the same old, same old tosh spouted by them all - nothing new learnt there.
Don't know why Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood and SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon were there but thought Nicola Sturgeon would look a better leader for Labour than Ed and of course Nigel didn't let us down with his views
What did you think of it?

Oooh Derek....

Yer, as expected. I'm looking forward to hearing about the Heckler...could not miss the rather large door slam a couple of minutes later.

Good old Nigel, what a bloke, says what a lot of us are thinking and not afraid to do so either.

Depends on what you mean by 'a lot'. One or two seats for the Bigots, maybe.....

He does, but one of the drawbacks are the things he doesn't say. He has at least got a bit of charisma , which most sadly lack.

Overall, much in agreement with DWC. It would have been better to have had some different issues raised, as I think we already know much of what was said by the different leaders, off by heart now. None of them are about to give anything away are they?

Nicola Sturgeon , well she is a force. Obviously ,with the help of Salmond, is out to break up the union and change the whole British constitution.

Hell, Yes ! Forgot Milliband. There was a recurring image of, zooming in through firstly the 'arched' window, then the 'round' window and if anyone used to watch playschool, you will know what I mean. e.g. "Today I am going to build lots more houses, and today I am going to make lots more sick people better, and today I am going to change the world"( all on his own)......Is he tough ? "hell yes "!

The rest paled into insignificance .

The rest paled into insignificance.....I want to disagree just to be bloody minded but in all honesty it is a more than fair assessment. I want to be Scottish just so I can say I have a leader who will do what I want. Alas, i'm British and left with toffs ruling from Westminster so I have to decide who would be best for me, i'm still not convinced by any of them

I have not seen the programme yet, it is recorded and will be watched later. From what I saw on the news it was pretty much as I expected with Milliband's "let me explain" catchphrase to the fore, Cameron's constant promises to carry on with the great job. Farage just wants to wind them all up and knows just how to do it.Cleggy should have stuck to Last of the Summer Wine where he was meant to be amusing.Sturgeon, like Salmond is so full of vitriol against the English that I think she destroys what would otherwise be many very good ideas. No point in commenting on the Greens or Plaid Cymru. As anticipated it will do nothing to convince myself or I suspect many others which is the best party.

Having watched the debate I think the only ones with the really good, sensible and possibly achievable ideas are the Green Party and the SNP. Of course the way the political system works in UK means that both can only hope to be a partner in any government for many years to come so can only be an influence on decisions. What always amazes me in such debates is how the leaders can make figures mean totally different things according their own policies. Has the borrowing increased ? Milliband says yes, Cameron says no. What about National debt? My head is aching listening to it all. A pity Julie Etchingham had not been given a device to switch off the speaker who refused to shut up when they over ran their times.

Interesting full page article in this weeks Globe outlining what local and nationl Labour leaders said about Coal gasification off Wirral coast. In small writing at the bottom of page the article is from an Alan Mabbutt alledgedly on behalf of the Conservative Party. Wasn't Esther Mcvey supportitive of it?

Another leaders debate (although light on Cameron and Clegg), tonight at 8 on BBC1.

Gotta laugh...

I'm not sure there is a problem with UCG, if there was a significant coal seem under Hilbre you can bet it would have had a major coal mine in the past.

There have been many coal mines around and under the Dee, none have approached Hilbre as far as I am aware.

UCG is classed as a fairly safe and relatively environmentally friendly compared to many other methods of energy production.

It seems to be coming down to 'scaremongering ' now.

Fed up with the whole lot.

There was suposedly large levels of coal at Hilbre but the rock strata is fractured or porous which meant it was unsafe to mine. UCG or fracking is such an emotive subject and the dangers and consequenses are not fully understood so in my opinion should not go ahead..
I agree with you Granny, it does seem to be a case of who can best lay enough crud on the oposition to win. Not my kind of debate, i prefer quantifiable facts which none seem able to back up without slagging someone else off. Too churlish for words.
