I am flicking through an old book entitled 'Practical Information for All' Edited by R.Ewart Williams. Published by Oldhams Press Limited. Cppyright G.139
In some text the 'latest figures' are taken from the 1931 Census so I am assuming sometime between 1931 and 1941.
Any help appreciated.

I have a quaint little hardback called 'How to Run Your Home Without Help' published by John Lehmann in 1949, the year my parents were married. It goes into eye-watering detail about the daily drudgery of what was considered to be a fitting routine for the wifey, in order to have all spick and span ready for when He Who Must Be Obeyed came home at night. Sheesh...

They really are an eye-opener, these old books!!  Got another here from 1958 called 'The Comprehensive Guide to Deep Freezing' nearly 100 pages long. I thought to myself, how can you drag out information about freezers/ freezing food to 100 pages but then I realised I've grown up with freezer usage. I suppose it was a big deal back then, people had to 'learn' about them.....
