All this week St Joseph’s Church in Upton is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its foundation, part of this celebration is a photographic exhibition of History and Memories. While much of this exhibition is related to the parish and its parishioners, there are a lot of pictures of Upton in the past which may be of interest to some members. The exhibition will be open to the public this Saturday afternoon (22nd June). Admission is free, and the displays within the exhibition cover the following:
In the Parish Hall:
• Village shops in the 1950s and 60s • First Communions • Altar Servers • Youth to Lourdes • Golden Jubilee of the Church (2004) • Parish Events • Baptisms, Confirmations and Weddings
In the Church:
• Upton in Times Past • Parish Priests • Before the Reformation • Upton Hall • St Joseph’s School • St Joseph’s Mission Chapel • Mobile Chapel • St Joseph’s Church • Tithe Map • St Mary’s Church • United Reformed Church • Golden Jubilee Banner • Crowning of the Virgin
