Tired of reading about doom and gloom, and how miserable everyone is (Generally) a Topic to show we do care and we help others too. Ive been inspired by just chatting about helping someone that a little help can mean all the difference. If its bringing the bins in for a neighbour, or picking up something from the shops for a poorly person. Giving Advise or saving someone a few quid. Share the Goodwill amongst us.
Who have you helped today ?
* Keep this on topic, it mean a lot to many.

I will be honest and if it was not for being inspired by a couple of people and the subject on my mind i would not have bothered with my good deed for the day. As i drove home, not far to go, a man was trying on his own to push his car into the side of the road. At the time i assumed he had broken down. I thought in a flash if that was me would i hope someone would help me? And it was that motivation that made me pull over and offer my help. I pulled over and offered my help. The Guy was so pleased that he could get his car to the side of the road safely with out busting a blood vessel. He had ran out of petrol that's why the car had stopped where it had. He was most grateful for the help, and we went our separate ways. But i got a great feeling of being GOOD which money cant buy and no one can take from you What's yours ?

I did a similar thing in Moreton Cross a while back. A girl had broken down just before the roundabout. She had her hazards on, but no one offered to even push her to the kerb so she wasnt blocking the traffic. I pulled over and much to my young sons amazement, he watched his mum push the car down the nearest side street. I didnt anticipate how hard it was to do this on your own, but the young girl was very grateful. She could now wait in safety for the breakdown people.

My 92 year old grandad fell out of his mobility scooter, outside his home recently (now hospitalised), thankfully passerbyes tried to assist him up and upon failing, rang an ambulance.I thank God- he could have froze to death, lying on the cobbles.
On another personal note, I- each week provide my professional skills voluntarily at a local charity-recieving no more than Travel Expenses in reimbursement-thus saving Social Services approx £60-£90 per week.
(Perhaps the second paragraph would be more suitable for the 'benefit scroungers' page but I dont go on that page as it was evidentlly 'set up' as a Troll page- see the original post).

I haven't done anything today that would qualify as being good (not that I've been bad or anything) But recently I have taken on the stance that if I see anyone who appears to be in distress or needing some kind of help, then I will do my best to do something. However, I was once at a very busy intersection and witnessed a dreadful car accident. I got out of my car to make sure everyone was okay and said I'd be a witness if they needed to make a statement to the police or insurance, fortunately no-one was badly hurt. What got me though, was the amount of other drivers who saw it all happen too and did absolutely nothing, but instead honked their horns because the accident scene was in the way of them rushing to get passed.
Like Mark said, money can't buy the feel good factor you get from at least offering your help and I hope that there are some good folk out there who would help me too if I'm ever in need

My partner and I bought my parents over £30 worth of food before Christmas and offered up the money to fix the heating and hot water, I know it doesn't seem much, my mum is currently signed off work sick and after all they have done for me I couldn't sit and watch them struggle and have a unhappy time in the cold when we where lucky enough to be comfortable.

Perhaps you could answer me in a private message to keep the original post on topic, but what is a 'troll page?'

* Troll is a post or reply that is written to gain a reaction or to goad an individual (underhand comment).
{i]Reading those replys above does make a difference, that good feeling is like a tonic, with me it lasted all day and now its in my mind and i'm more aware of that stranger needing help from anyone. Im pleased to read i'm not alone with the good : deed for the day.[/i]

I personally havent done anything but I would like to thank a neighbour of mine. Last week when we had the ice and snow my boiler broke. Anyway on my way back from tesco's I stopped to stroke a cat on on my neighbours wall, the neighbour was coming in at the same time and we got chatting. I have never met her before but when I was walking away saying goodbye I mentioned in passing that I was going to huddle under my blankets, that my boiler had broken and wasnt getting anyone out to fix it that day. About half an hour later the same neighbour knocked to bring me a little heater. I thought this was a lovely gesture especially as we were strangers and I was extremly grateful, I thought her kindness was definately worth a mention.

I sometimes sneak down our road and secretly leave the old guy who lives a few houses away a box of 12 cat pouches and a box of nibbles. Hes a pensioner who loves animals and feeds every cat who appears at his door.I don't like to give him the food outright as he seems a very proud guy, but every bit helps him and apparently he thought it was the old dear across the road and they got talking and are now best of friends, which i found very sweet But shhh, or it'll ruin my street cred
