Hi there, my husbands iphone 4 was taken off the bar of the Park View, Liscard Road, last night at approx 8.57 (time taken from cctv). He was silly enough to go outside for a smoke, leaving his phone on the bar. This is our local though, and the people who drink there are regulars who we know, so not usually given a second thought. I was sat a few spaces away, but was reading something and didn't know the phone was there. The guy who has stolen it came into the club, put his bags (from the chip shop over road) on the bar and started enquiring about the cost to hire the room. After he left, my husband came back into the bar and noticed his phone was gone.

We looked at the cctv footage, the phone was on the bar before he put his bags there, but had gone when he left. He turned left when he left the pub, going toward Church St. He was quite tall, with messy/wavy/spiky brown hair, he had scars on his face, really pale blue eyes (watery) and the guy from the chip shop said he also noticed scarring on his hand. He looked to be in his 40's, though I'm not great at judging age.

At various points through the night I tried to call the phone, it connected a few times and I could hear talking, the last time the conversation mentioned "Greg" and "Sue".

The phone has been blocked and is now completely useless to anyone but us.

I know this is a real long shot, but if anyone knows anything, or is offered a an Iphone, I would very much appreciate it if you could let me know. I can confirm the identity of the phone and the police are involved. It was a really stupid thing to do, but there are holiday photos of my kids etc on there, I would really like the phone back and for these people to be brought to justice.

Sorry about the long post folks.
Thanks very much for taking the time to read this.

I would let the phone places in the market know too as they may try to sell it there, or those places like cash converters etc.

Good luck

Yep, done that, cash converters say they won't take phones without receipts. CEX in Bhead got details. looked on ebay and gumtree too. Have blocked the imei number so as a phone will be pretty useless now unless they get the imei number changed, which is apparently worthy of a 5 year prison sentence if caught.

It would be an idea to get a photo off the cctv of the person and circulate on here. Hope they find him and your phone.

I've left a message for my places as well.

Phone theft seems to be on the increase at the moment, we've had three different shops in New Ferry tell us that they've had people come into their place and why two kept them busy another went behind the counter and took staff members phones.
Another shop, again in New Ferry, has told us today that an elderly woman wearing a headscarf who, like the three males, did not speak in English, placed a bag over an area that a phone had been put which couldn't be found when she left.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. It's so annoying that they just take without a thought for the hurt and disruption they cause to people. I've been broken into, had my car stolen, had things taken from my front drive, even half empty tins of paint! So sick of it, really want to try and smoke this guy out. Hopefully someone will recognise the description.

Hope you find it, it may sound stupid but did you have the find my iPhone feature turned on? I've got an iPhone a few months back and have only just found the feature. It may be worth thinking of if you get a new one.
Hope you get the ... who stole it.

Hi, unfortunately hubby doesn't know much about the phone. Switched everythin off whilst on holiday, and didn't turn it back on again. When I log into Icloud it says that location services are turned off. frown As for getting new phone, can't afford it, still got a year to go on contract too. Using very basic cheap phone at mo. I really really hope that we do catch him.

Get a still or stills from the cctv and get 'em posted here and on fb.....it's worked in the past and if the scumbag is local then he'll soon be wishing he'd just stuck to salt and vinegar with hi chips!!

The police have been to club and are going to take copies of the footage to distribute on thier network. With any luck someone will recognise him. I'd love to post a still on here, but think the club may get into trouble if I did, I am going to find out if it's possible tho. No signs of phone as yet, hasnt been located on icloud so looks like its dead somewhere. so frustrating. Grrrrrr.
