When i first saw ZIINGA.COM [advertised on a website] i thought wow lets have a go luckily i won a £35.00 Ikea voucher for £2.21 on my first bid (free bid so no bids were bought) and thought its too good to be true, so i went to pay for the item with my debit card all went through fine but then they started asking for important documents such as home details, credit card info, copy of credit card front and back, driving licence and passport and utility bill to be sent through to them,I went to the live assistant and asked for my item but they refused and said you need to send in those documents before we can release the item, on no part of the terms and conditions does it say to provide this information, so i will not be getting the product by the looks of it, but luckily i have cancelled my debit card and told the bank about the situation + told them that it was a scamming site.I also reported it to the police and got a crime log ref number. Stay away from ziinga.com, site don't fall in to their trap, One should really research any site BEFORE making any payments.

One should really research any site BEFORE making any payments. Ha, what other pearls of wisdom do you have to share for us? Edit: Bit overboard getting a crime ref just because you didn't want to send them your details dude. And cancelling your debit card? You didn't even give them that info according to your post. These penny-bid sites all make their money the same way, they get people to pay for bids and the bids end up paying for the item to sell at a low value. Not criminal by a long stretch.

A quick google would suggest phlegm was correct to not give their details, e.g. "hidden" membership fees charged against credit cards.

Why would they need all them important documents? Hmmm you've done the right thing x Paypal will request photo ID and proof of address to process some claims. Travel agents will take a note of your passport number for the plane tickets. So it's not always a scam to ask for these details, but all together, with no explaination, you should start to question the legitimacy of the site.

Hope you don't mind me butting in Phlegm but please be careful re Ziinga, they've been conning money off people for years. Read about all the people they've taken money from. I had murder with them, I cancelled my card too. Bank manager told me there were hundreds of complaints about Ziinga because even though card is no more, bank is obliged to give them money if they try and take it using the account number you've given them. I ended up paying £28 cancellation fee. Nobody receives any items they've bought either!

I refuse to pay them a bean and if the bank takes money I will complain to the ombudsman as this is sharp practise.

Trust me, Ziinga have done their homework well, have left no loopholes open. They are aware of being investigated by police, banks and companies in different countries but still carry on, because, of wording used etc., they are doing no wrong. I looked into the contract, the site, past complaints, every which way but loose, to try and get out of paying. Must have sent about 30 e-mails to them myself during the course of a fortnight, using all the swear words I've ever known, to no avail. Went through every detail with a fine tooth comb....and for the first time in my life, I realised that I had been conned and had to pay. Was soooo gutted.
I wish you lots of luck and please let me know how you get on.
