There is an article in this week's Wirral Globe about the hoped for electrification of this line. It should also include for reinstating the curve from Bidston station round to the New Brighton line. This would enable excursions to run directly to New Brighton from the midlands/south.

I thought they had been trying to electrify this line for years but Network Rail or whatever it's called couldn't be bothered even though the money was available from Wales/Cheshire and Merseyside.

They have been talking about this for years, even talking about putting a station in Prenton/Woodchurch Rd when/if it gets the go ahead. It would make sense if it did happen.

Not read the article but it was brought up in the house of commons a few weeks ago during a transport debate and was pushed back again.

Yeah since we moved here in 1990 they have been talking of it at least and getting the station called "Woodchurch" or "Prenton".

The £9bn Rail Investment plan announced by the government today, does not look like it includes electrification of the Bidston/Wrexham line.
