I've got this down as Heswall Village, but just can't place it

It must be Heswall Lower Village.

Depending which way we are coming from of course, I think the Church could be on the left and the pub on the right.Maybe the pub wasn't there then. Need to see some others of the Lower Village to maybe pinpoint the bend in the road.
Will have a look.

It's Elder Cottage, Heswall.

Dating back to the late 17th century, it was the original school and was demolished in 1954 for road widening.

I think that the smaller building (as seen in granny's picture) was the reading rooms. Elder Cottage was located behind this smaller building.

Not such a genius Pablo! The eternal one has come up trumps again. To be honest I'm quite relieved you've come to help Geekus. Would this then be at the bottom of School Lane, Lower Heswall? You could put it on the 'school' forum too Pablo.

The bottom of School Hill, opposite the Black Horse (Heswall Hotel).
