i noticed your into seafood....cockles, winkles, welks etc. i was having a conversation with my dad and he remembers a thing called KEWENS. he described them as like a winkle but with a different name. ever heard of these????
back to subject......i making a batch of cottage pie filling, bolognese ragu and chilli con carne for freezing. i guess i will go for the chilli tonight....mmmmmm

dan Yep, kewins were the local name for winkles, used to pick them at Seacombe, off the rocks and up towards New Brighton, it's wonder we didn't go down with something because there used to be lots of Mersey goldfish in the river then. We even used to fish for flatties in the Mersey, it's a lot cleaner now, no lines full of bog roll. Happy Days? Yep, they were really.
