Manor road outside the police station is closed. Someone has been knocked over. Overheard on the police radio that it may be closed for a while.

Ello ello ello, listening to police radio is an offence and not to be admitted! I think he meant he heard it at the location from a policemans radio. You can't eavesdrop into modern tetra radios.

Gave up amateur radio a long time back so you are probably correct. Police probably don't even use Morse any more!!!!!

No, I was referring to Morse which some people wrongly call a code i.e. Morse code. It's another language really. I then got the very witty answer that the Police don't use Morse any more because he is dead (Inspector Morse of TV fame). Okay? No one is really dead so nothing to see!

Ello ello ello, listening to police radio is an offence and not to be admitted! No. Only if you "make use of it". I.e, a jpournalist using a police scanner to "get to the story first", or a thief using it to know if "the area is clear". Listening, in it's self, is no offence.
