not meaning to sound funny but if you did your homework on them you would have seen and found the right one

theres quite a few to choose from plus there are generic ones availiable

I opted for the smallest lightest one to fit in my pocket

i suppose it also depends on how much reading you do as to whether it outweighs the cost of books you would buy. i read on average 2 books a week so over a year i will save a fortune even on second hand book prices.

My only disapointment so far is not being able to get some titles ive read and would like to re read

Sarah, I think you're somewhat missing the point of them. Sound's like your mother-in-law grasped it okay though laugh

I'm thinking of getting a kindle, but a few queries first
1 Does it take expansion crds such as sd card?
2 Does it show up on a pc as a hard drive/pen ?.
3 How would I add pdf or txt files (thanks jabber)off pc to it without having to go on internet to download books?
4 No powerpack with £89 one so how long to charge one by USB?

Answers to your questions:
1-No
2-Yes
3-There is a free program you can download to organise different formats called 'Calibre'.
4-Not sure but I got a mains adaptor on ebay for £3.00.

derek you should have got a mini usb with the kindle, jsut charge it off the pc

when you plug it in it pops up as a window, in there is a file called documents..open that and you can drag pdf and txt files straight onto the kindle

you lose some of the formatting in some cases but generally the files are fine

when u close it it will start to charge
