Mersey Magazine the areas on line digital newspaper is this morning reporting

WIRRAL WEEKEND MUSIC FESTIVAL CALLED OFF

A weekend music festival which had been expected to attract 12,000 visitors has been cancelled after opposition from local residents
The Hudbu Festival had been scheduled for the weekend of September 24 and 25 at Wirral Rugby Club and dozens of acts, including The Japanese Popstars, Popof and Shlomi Aber had confirmed they would be appearing
But residents have opposed the event, which could have attracted some 4,000 people camping on the site at the Memorial Fields and the event has now been cancelled

There's a statement from the organisers on the official website: http://www.hudbu.com/

Objecting to a one time a year event seems a bit selfish, but you don't know how much hassle the residents might have to put up the rest of the year.

If there is frequent/regular disruption/noise from non-rugby events then I don't blame them.

On the other hand, this is a fairly isolated site with extremely few residential premises nearby and it is located between the M53 and Clatterbridge/Willaston Road B5151, so it is hardly a very quiet location anyway.

There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. David Osland 2025

Hi Guys!

Jai Byron (the festival director) here, I posted up some details only a few weeks ago about our event and was genuinely amazed at how much supportive feedback we received over the last year, as well as in the last few weeks on here...

Unfortunately there's been a combination of adverse conditions that have recently worked against us, and we've decided to bow out gracefully rather than put on an event that may damage our reputation and also cause issues for people using and surrounding the site, which recently took a bit of a battering so isn't in a great state currently.

Its been a hard decision to make, but we've got some great people working alongside, for and with us who have truly blown me away over the last few days in the efforts made to see & source other alternative venues...

The bad news is we couldn't source one this year, but the better news is we have one for next year and well... its a true BEAUTY!

We're locked in discussions at the moment about it to ensure we can get agreements in place ready to undergo the various form filling, site planning and various other tasks involved in putting on an event such as this in a safe and practical manner.

I really hope to see a few of your faces there at the next hudbu festival, but in the mean time as a company we are looking at smaller, community events and I'll keep everyone posted on those as well...

Thanks for all your support,

Jai

I wonder if those objecting had been swayed by the feelings of residents from the nearby Creamfields festival site at Daresbury.

I used to live there and it was an absolute nightmare that weekend. The music was fine, it was just the people causing the trouble.

Residents had to erect temporary Heras fencing and barricade themselves in to their homes. A couple even employed security guards.

But this festival was nothing like Creamfields.
