That's cause Sky are complete w ankers when it comes to changing anytihng to do with the router they give out. You can't even change to another router without literally sniffing and then cracking your user/password combo because Sky won't give it out in any circumstances.

Hey Willo, have you tried clicking tools and then clearing history/temp internet files/cache? There should be a button there somewhere that lets you do that though I'm not sure what its called.

Right, to change the nameservers in XP:
Go to start menu - network connections - on the left hand sub menu choose "View network connections" - right click on the connection you using (usually the wireless one on laptops) and select properties - on the first page, scroll down to "Internet Protocol TCP/IP, highlight it, and the click the properties button - Then change the DNS server option to "use the following DNS server addresses" and input these :
208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220
Then use the flushdn option for safety, and restart all browsers etc (close every browser window before opening a new one) - this should work, providing the router does not override it.
As ex0 says, Sky have locked down their routers, so it appears you can't change it on the router side (more preferable way).

He's such a noob, eh Willo!
Just head back into Network Connections and right click the connection you're using and click 'Properties', choose TCP/IP from the list and click Properties again and choose 'obtain dns addresses automatically' instead of the option you've got selected at the moment.
@Matt: Lol.

Very strange; reboot the computer, and as it comes out of POST (before the windows logo comes on) press F8 repeatedly, until you are presented with a list of options.
Select the "last known good configuration" - it's a stab in the dark, but its worth a try and may prove a simple fix to get your network connection back.

Won't work if he's already rebooted the lappy since the network connection dissapeared and I'll bet that he has. Last Good Config is overwritten by the latest working boot to desktop

Indeed, no harm in trying though. Seems strange the network disappearing, a DNS config change won't have caused that (could have locked you out of the internet until the change was reversed though). You haven't knocked the wireless adapter off have you? Using an FN key on the keyboard or a physical/dedicated key/button on the laptop itself?
