Could anyone be so kind as to tell me where Bedford Street was in Birkenhead, also, is it possible to find out how many occupants resided at 14 Hope st Birkenhead in January 1875 and their names. Thank you.

How far back we talking bert? Any chance Bedford Road was once a Street?

Bedford Street off Hope St which was between Conway st and Beckwith street Hope st where Birkenhead bycycles is by the park

have you an inkling of a name to search 1881 census
I've been looking for ages to find a program that will let me search 1881 by any word eg street name.
Wonder if there's a street directory in main library for about that time
I don't know if earlier census can be searched by street(maybe a wiki member of Ancestry.com can look

Thanks Derek, I've made the link from 1871, 81 and 1891,censors what i was wondering, because of a birth certificate i have, who else lived in 14 Hope street in 1875.

If you go on Ancestry and look at the name you have for Hope St then the others in the street are listed. There's no census for in between years i.e. 1871 and 1881 has no in between years but you may be able to figure out who has gone. Only local records at where ever the archives are will help. Realise I may be teaching my Granny to suck eggs on this one. If you are not an Ancestry member then give me a PM and I'll see what I can find out for you. Need a name for Hope Street to start with though.

Thanks for the offer Bandy, My older sister got Ancestry for my Christmas present, Its easy to work this one out, she wants to know all the info, so she buys it for me, anyway, i have the birth certificate of my grandfather 1875,Hope St, I can pick his family up in 71 and 81 and more, what it is, kids have gone missing in between 71 and 81, not marriageable age, probably died, if it was possible to find out how many of the family lived in hope st in 1875, it would give me some idea when they died, i should mention the addresses in 71, 75, 81 are different.
I've only had this since Father Christmas brought it so i am more than happy to receive tips etc.

Burt,I have just had a look at 1881 and at no.14 there was a family named Turner. If this is who you are looking for I can give you more delails.

Thanks Bezzy, no, the family was Barker, 1875, by 81 they had moved, in 71 they wasn't there.

Throw computer through the window. Its not that important, just a little side issue, whats more frustrating is, how do i find out the maiden name of my great, great grandmother, without leaving the house that is.
