Irresponsible drivers targeted in Wirral council campaign

IRRESPONSIBLE drivers are being targeted as part of Wirral Council clampdown.

Motorists who park across driveways or on other dropped areas of pavement, could face the same penalty charge notices as so-called 'dozy parkers' who park on double yellow lines.

Local authorities have had the powers to issue the notices on irresponsible drivers since last year under the Traffic Management Act 2004.

But these extended enforcement powers help councils to ensure a safer environment for all road users and make a contribution to traffic management and congestion management.

Residents who are prevented from getting in and out of their driveways by a parked car are often forced to ask the council to take action.

It is feared that vehicles parked on dropped kerbs which are are usually accompanied by tactile paving would prevent blind people from crossing a road safely.

Cllr Lesley Rennie, Wirral Council cabinet member for streetscene and transport services, said: "Parking where the pavement has been dropped might seem like an innocuous, harmless thing for drivers to do, but it is actually quite irresponsible. These areas of kerb are there for a good reason and it is right that parking there should be considered as unacceptable as parking on a double yellow line or not paying in a pay and display car park."

If a motorist is found to be parked irresponsibly over a section of dropped kerb, they could face a penalty charge notice which carries a fine of £70.

bout time too, so many careless people out there that obviously need a lesson learning, but on the same hand I think parking signs and yellow lines should be maintained and be clearly marked out.

People who park their cars on any pavement should be hammered. Do they consider partially sighted/elderly folk ?? Erm.. NO ! Just bloody bone idle most of the time ! As with many things, it's just lack of consideration for others. Me me me me me - that's all that matters (?)

I wonder if it will apply to the wardens who often park on double yellows, block drives and park on pavements while they go about making decent human beings lives a misery?

More power to the traffic wardens! My next door neighbour got ticketed for parking on the part of the kerb that separates the grass verge from the road. In front of his own house, on a main road. They're starting to put yellow lines and 2 hour limits on parking spaces in front of people's houses in the south. The councils love this, it's all they're passionate about, the c*nts.

Do you know that if you park in designated pay and display car park and dutifully buy your ticket and stick it on your windscreen when Mr Warden comes along and sees that as well as your current ticket you have left an old ticket on your dash, he will stick a fine on your car? This is because his brain is programmed to read only one ticket. He gets confused if he sees two even if the other one has been lying on your dash for six months and is faded by the sun. Now a monkey could work out that you have paid your fee and you are just not good at keeping your car tidy , but sadly Mr Warden is not as clever as a monkey so you get done.

There were the cases predominantly in London where people had hundreds of parking tickets stuck to there windows, you couldn't expect the Warden to check each one to see if there is a current one. Can't remember what the outcome of this case was.

I could understand hundreds. though I wonder how they drove with hundreds....but people have been done for just two tickets which is just another example of the petty bureaucratic third world state that England has become, the partly devolved bits of the UK treating their people better.
