Highfield in Bidston Road. I went there between 1950 and 1953. It was run by a formidable lady called Miss Williams. I beleve it has closed recently. I used to have to walk about a mile along Bidston Road by myself. Imagine doing that to-day. I did play truant a few times !!

I went to well lane,I left when I was in class two (1983 approx) my teacher at the time was an evil cow called Mrs Dickson. One day my coat got caught on the hooks in class, she could see I was stuck and she just left me there for what seemed like all day.She used to point at the class with what seemed like an ENORMOUS finger and stare at me with little pointy eyesShe terrified me that woman.Mrs olive on the hand was a bit of an odd ball who used to play the piano all the time in class 1.

I'd like to see a photo of the OLD St.John's, New Ferry, behind the church in Bebington Road.
I went there during WW2 years. I'm not surprised it was abandoned as it was worn-out Victorian then, with worn concave steps and dusty floor boards. Half the playground was earth and the outside toilets were across this.
There were big sliding partitions to divide the central space but they were not in place so there were 2 lessons going on at the same time! Difficult to concentrate!
The desks must have been the original, all black and grooved tops. I used to let my mind wander and pretend the grooves were roads on a map. I'm still into maps!
