The Communication Workers Union said workers voted three to one in favour of a nationwide strike.

But the Royal Mail said 60% of postal workers working in the UK did not vote to strike.

The ballot found 61,623 out of a total of 80,830 workers said they wanted to take action at the "imposition" of changes to working practices as well as job cuts and reductions in pay.

Can't wait to see them all crying and losing their homes and families when they end up at the dole office claiming their £50 a week. They can then take the credit for running the company into the ground, breaking the country, and acting like babies - stick it on their CV, and I hope they end up in the gutter when their collecting their pensions.

Utter ..., and its about time they grew up.

Its time for the Royal Mail to get advertising in the Job Centre, and use the 20,000 postal staff that want to do a honest days work, to train up, and get 60,000 people into new jobs.

And the postal workers who lose their jobs should recieve £20 a week benefits when they lose their jobs, they chose not to work...

Businesses rely on Royal Mail and if they don't deliver the businesses suffer. It's a huge knock on effect resulting in loss of revenue at a time when its about to get at its busiest with Christmas looming. Ebay sellers will certainly be hit the hardest. This country is in a slump and Royal Mail staff aren't helping the situation.

If they are not happy with the pay they have then piss off and find a job that does pay what they want. Thousands of unemployed on the Wirral and I supect a fair few wouldn't mind a chance to work for Royal Mail.

Exactly Paul, all they are doing is looking after number 1 and not giving a toss about anyone else.

In every other industry and business, there are pay freezes, pay reductions even, job losses etc, people going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure they still have a job next week and can feed and house their families, but the ... at the Royal Mail somehow think they are too special for all that. Jeeze my business has been barely touched by the recession as yet, in fact quite the opposite, but I have still be cutting back this year, reducing costs etc - although I did see the recession coming tbh and spent the past 4 years economising heavily where possible to do so. So for the businesses that are struggling and heamoraging market share/custom, the situation must be dire.

Most people who lose their jobs during this recession will get public sympathy - if I ever see a Royal Mail picket line, ill get a super soaker and shoot the barstard!!

I'm inclined to agree. The post is a public service and should be sacrosanct. If the buggers strike, we should send the army in to keep the service going. It's what we do when the firemen go on strike.

Incidentally, several years back, it was discovered that many credit cards were being nicked at one of the major sorting offices in London. Management wanted to put in CCTV to determine the culprits. The unions threatened strike action if they did so. B*stards.

Yer, I still have not got my TUTV viewing card. Its a development car, so its pretty darn important, and has unlimited freebies attatched to it, so im starting to get worried now!

TUTV have told me if its not here by Friday next week, they will have to de-activate it and try to send me another one. But they will use DHL instead.

I make no allegations, but just as an observation, my post is delivered very erratically (i.e. nothing for 3 or 4 days and then lots together, including stuff posted many days earlier) and several important documents have been lost in transit.

I have little confidence in Royal Mail.

I cancelled my Lovefilm subscription 3 weeks before it ended. They won't cancel a subscription until they get all the DVD's back. Because of the postal strike I didn't get the DVD so couldn't have sent it back. So Lovefilm have billed me fore another month.

It's only £15 but I've just started a new business without a loan and I have bills left right and center, so it's a lot to me.

I think the strikers should quit as they obviously don't want their job. Plenty of people that do. Not that Lovefilm haven't done anything wrong by using the strike to their advantage.

never known a strike to solve anything, been on a few (against my will and better judgement) and there is always a price to pay in jobs or money. It is never any different but the dinosaurs in the union office never learn from history. FACT!

Post over here still ok, but then again your union men over there have always been a bit more aggressive.
