just seen this on bbc merseyside page, sorry if it has already been seen
Mersey coast £10m plan announced
Plans for a £10m redevelopment to the Wirral coastline between Rock Ferry and Eastham including the Royal Mersey Yacht Club have been announced.
Known as the Mersey Coast project it will incorporate the yacht club's plans to redevelop their land including the derelict Admiral Pub.
The improvements to the club's facilities will mean it will be able to host national and international events.
A Wirral Council spokeswoman said it would "transform the waterfront area".
Significant improvements
Councillor Moira McLaughlin said: "These proposals by the yacht club are very exciting and most importantly, deliverable. They will transform the waterfront and open it up both for water based and recreational uses which will benefit the whole community.
"We having been trying for many years to regenerate this area of Wirral and I will be lobbying the external funding agencies to provide the money which will make these proposals a reality."
Central to the plans is the need to improve links from the coast back into the communities of Rock Ferry, New Ferry and Port Sunlight by creating new access routes including a new entrance and exit route to the A41 bypass from the yacht club.
There are also plans to refurbish the pier and make significant improvements to the esplanade as well as reclaiming Bromborough landfill site as a green space.
The sailing club was set up in 1844.

Heard a councilor getting interviewed on the radio tonight and he said there was no reason why the ferry boat service couldn't run from there.

Best news for an ex-R.Ferryite in years! Pity it's just a bit too late for part of Rock Park and the Royal Rock Hotel. Hoping it doesn't get too 'modernised'.

Correct Bri. Sometimes a good spruce up and a return to it's former state is all that is required of a lot of places. e.g. the railings along the proms from Seacombe to Harrison Drive. They were always painted and kept in good nick but then they are neglected for years and need expensive renovation by the time they realise they are losing a good facility. Always looking to the immediate and not to the future costs.
