O.K. It is twenty five years since I was last in Wallasey. But I was brought up , and worked there.

Any one remember "The Stanley" on Borough Road (Late Victoria Road) Seacombe, where the bar was only just about at mid thigh height, and the bar staff area (behind bar/serving area) was about three feet lower than the drinking area?

Leasowe Castle (?) which was part of the same building which houses "the five bars" in Seacombe. Is that still there? and Did the "five bars" EVER have five bars?

Does "The Stanley" in Albion Street, New Brighton, still exist?

The Pilot Boat (N.B)?

Rose and Crown Poulton Road?

The Pool Inn by Poulton Bridge Road?

The Kings Arms Liscard Road?

The Oyster Catcher, Leasowe?

Now this needs explanation, I can not remember the names. End of Rake lane, the road takes a sharp "S" bend, past the bowlling greens. immediately on the left, overlooking the greens was/is(?) a pub? And also on the opposite side of the Road another one. Are they both still there? and WHAT were they bloody CALLED now?

As I did a photography course at Central Park (Liscard Hall), I took a bet that I could not get a photo of every pub in Wallasey (Not including Leasowe) in a day. Using only bus and on foot. I got 47. THEY said it counted as a win, but I am sure I missed one or two.

Must admit, I have not had chance to go through the entire 600 + yet. Have to do it whilst the boss is not looking. wink

I do not have any of my photographs any more. I had literaly thousands of the docks in the 70s and 80s, (Including one of the fourth bridge (going FROM Wallasey) being USED, by a tug, and a small ship in the dock there (Edgerton or Brockelbank dock???) all the pubs, Liscard before Liscard way was pedestrianised, Victoria Road before it was ripped to bits,200 to 300 of Liscard hall inside and out,(Enough to rebuild the place, if they ever needed, one architect mate remarked), etc, etc.

Oh, and I noted an error. It is "The CLARENCE" in Albion Street, not "The Stanley".

The two pubs are called The Sandridge and the Little Brighton known locally as the Ginny. The Travellers is right down the bottom of Rowson Street on the corner of Kings Parade.
