Wirral van driver jailed for sex attack on teenage girl
A MARRIED delivery driver from Walton has been jailed for sexually assaulting a teenage girl in his van.

Jurors took three hours to convict Anthony Rimmer, 48, of molesting the girl, 18, in Bidston following a January trial.

They also found him guilty of falsely imprisoning her after she resisted his attack.

Jailing Rimmer for 21 months, Judge John Phipps at Liverpool Crown Court said: “There in the back of your van, on the jury’s verdict you sexually assaulted her.”

He added: “Of course, none of this she consented to on the jury’s verdict and you falsely imprisoned her when you desisted from the sexual attack.” Rimmer, who shook his head throughout, will sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

During a four-day trial, van driver Rimmer, who had no previous convictions, claimed the girl had agreed to a “kiss and a cuddle” and said they had decided to find a quiet spot together.
