Need some comparisons?

Looking at getting the N95 8gb GB
But what is a good deal on a tariff?
I don't want to be paying silly money, as in i think £30 is about right??

Looking at O2 as i hear there the best but what's the best
way to get the best deal?

I know Matty has a pretty good deal including e-mail to text,
but where are the prices or deals for browsing the web on
your phone.

Help and advice gratefully appreciated wink
Need advise to give the sales a run for there money lol.

You wont get much tbh until upgrade time, then they will offer you the world to keep you're custom.

Avoid cashback offers at all cost's as they are all scams and will be getting made illegal pretty soon due to the amount of customers being had off by them.

o2 Online is the best way to get a good deal from o2, however, as I say, you won't get a great deal until you have been with them 12 months.

Avoid 18 month contracts where possible, avoid 24 month contracts like the plague.

The email to text service is with o2 Broadband, not my mobile contract.

Offers unlimited web browsing on your mobile in the UK.

You will be surprised to be honest at how stubborn the market is; it is mature and they are not interested in new customers anymore.

o2 are the biggest UK mobile phone provider, they have 20million+ customers, they aim to keep their customers and increase IRPC rather than gaining new customers; they have a MASSIVE business department which accounts for a HUGE amount of of their revenue thank's to their former BT link and impressive buisness deals, there is very little for them to gain by getting a new customer, in fact they are more likely to lose money if they offer killer deals before they get a chance to see what you're usage is (it's the overusage they make profit on with residential customers).

o2 Unlimited Bolt On is good, but there are restriction's, as with any service. It can be used as per GPRS and 3G, but constant 3G usage will quickly eat up the Fair Usage allowance, and therefore for mass use of internet on the move, you will be better off with a mobile broadband solution like Totopop has.

If you are looking at the internet on the move, swerve the N95, in fact swerve it anyway, it's old hat now and battery life is shite (important if you are mobile). For internet to be used alongside a laptop, mobile broadband is the ideal solution, otherwise look for any 3G capable phone that can boast a good battery life, and that will suffice as you're modem.

If it is internet on a phone you require, do NOT get a phone, get a PDA-phone. Its a little fad they throw in with phones nowadays, and they do the job for the odd bit of browsing, but for any important use, they unreliable and tedious to use. So and XDA or similar is much much better, given the mobile QWERTY keyboards, touchscreen capabilities, Windows Mobile operating systems, interface and range of features and functions as standard.

If you really need a small package but that can suit most needs, the only realy option is the Sony P series, the latest (and greatest) of which being the P1i, it is the only business class phone that boasts a QWERTY keyboard, great battery life, Symbian UIQ OS and the added bonus of a decent camera lol.

If you go for the business tariff's, you are much more likely to get a good and suitable business phone (such as a RIM Blackberry or an XDA) and you should get better deals on data, as well as the fact sales should try harder to offer you a good deal as they will expect you to be quite high volume.

Cheers for that wink
And sound advice.

Im still playing with it.

It looks like O2 Wifi package hooks up with "Cloud"
so to use the wifi option, i need a access point
and that may not be where i'm staying...

I think if i was using a phone i would dial into home
and let home pc do the grunt of e-mails etc..

Thanks for the advice.
What package does Mr Totop have?

Yer 18 month tariffs are where the money is for the networks.

You can get bolt ons on the 12 month tariffs, but they cost £7.50 a month, whereas the 18 months usually include one (sometimes two) free.

Be careful what you believe when they tell you things; their commission for selling a 12 month contract is pityful compared to selling an 18 month contract, so they will try absolutely anything to get you on 18 months, as I know from past arguments with the gits on the retentions team (they work on commission too lol).

Have you thought about a business contract for yourself and the missus?

If you get two handsets, you can put them under the same account, and the rates arnt bad, plus they like buisness customers rather then residential customers as thats where the money is.

Also, you don't have to get two new handsets, so if one of you doesnt want a handset, then they will offer you a discount for not taking a second handset.

Other then that, the Simplicity tariffs are good value for money and no need for a 12 month contract, the good thing about simplicity tariffs is you can phone up and say you want to cancel after say 4 months and they will work harder to keep you, although a simplicity customer doesnt get as good a deal after a genuine 12 months customer cancelling, unless of course they have reguarly gone over their monthly line rental by a decent amount.

o2 Shops wont offer you any special deal's and the people in there are salespeople not specialists; they are only there for "standard" customers, ie. people who sign up to standard tariffs.

You certainly wont be able to get the advantages that come with an Online tariff. In fact for Online customers, they usually tell you to fook off and phone the Online customer support number. Fortunatly for me, I go an Online tariff, but classed as Offline lol.

Here is the Simplicity information:
