What will replace the old quick-save building and crumbling row of shops now being demolished in New Ferry?
Are there any published plans lof what they will look like?

They are on the planning website A small summery https://newferryonline.org.uk/regeneration-plans
There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. All the shops are now gone and ground levelled between the old Bank Building and Woodhead Street on New Chester Road, New Ferry.

I've shopped in this area from a child with Auntie and then as a teenager with my cousins/friends and I can tell you that I've had many happy times here. When I look at this place now, it's soul destroying. It seems that the simple pleasures that we once enjoyed in life are being taken away.

Well, I think any attempt to regenerate the area should preserve its good features and adequate free parking is certainly one of teh major ones these days.
The plan to give it over to Housing is the death knell for any real regeneration of the area. It is beyond stupid. It is utterly moronic. Those responsible for this lunacy should be beaten out of town with sticks and dogs set on them to speed their departure.
Is a backhander involved somewhere, one wonders.

Government housing quotas are to blame, 1600 new homes a year for 20 years for Wirral is ridiculous and is imposable to achieve without eventually building on green belt which is highly unpopular.

I'm fed up with the cramped housing built in teh UK. We have plenty of land, but it is in the wrong hands.
Only 70^ of teh country is ;developed;so its hardly surprising that there isn't room to swing a cat in even teh biggest room of modern housed, and if you want book cases then forget it!
Time some of teh landowners were divested of their land and it be turned over to housing.

A lot of undeveloped developable land is held by developers in order to inflate the price of land. What's more the developers work in collusion with each other which would be illegal in most other businesses. If new rules were brought in that created a significant amount of additional housing the banks would crash yet again.
There are all sorts of weird rules brought in that subtly control housebuilding, eg all housebuilding projects have to create a net biodiversity gain of 10%. So if you start of with land that has gone back to nature for many years, how is it possible to build houses on it and increase biodiversity? The only way is to knock some other construction down somewhere else but that results in a negative net development!

What is required is UK housing standards including adequate land - ideally big enough to sustain a family - decent sized rooms, good insulation and a design lifetime of at least 100 years.
Some of the mew housing I have seen is ridiculously cramped. Prisoners in cells have more space.

There are absolutely tons of regulations on new builds including minimum room sizes and insulation.
Insulation rules have gone so extreme that now it is also required to use controlled ventilation, fan systems that are on 24 hours a day designed to ventilate the whole property without causing draughts or losing significant heat. Often the kitchen and bathroom extractors are dual-purposed for this function.
Minimum size for single bedroom is 7.5m2 (averages at 8'11" square) with minimum width of 2.15m (7'0")
Minimum size for a double or twin bedroom is 11.5m2 (averages at 11' square) with minimum width of 2.55m (8'3") but at least one double bedroom has to be minimum width 2.75m (8'11").
On top of that the minimum total floor space is specified depending on the number of bedroom, number of beds and number of storeys.
A single bedroom single storey property has to have a minimum total floorspace of 39m2 (averages at 20'4" square) or 37m2 if it has a shower room instead of a bathroom.
A three bedroom (2 doubles, one single) two storey property requires at least 93m2.
Cavity wall insulation makes an enormous difference, the property we are in now (1980's) was retro-fitted and uses about a quarter of the heating of our previous property (1880's) despite us now having all the window vents open all year. Floor insulation, cavity insulation and loft insulation to very high standards are compulsory on new builds Part of the insulation standards is to reduce the increased tendency for air conditioner use in summer, guidelines are now to keep your windows shut in hot weather, keep the heat out.
