Hello! Does anyone have any memories of the fun fair that used to visit Moreton shore during the summer in the 1980’s?

Have searched the internet high and low and found little to no mention of it. Would love to know if anyone has any memories or even pictures!

Many thanks!

I can't say for sure it was Walli's fair but I remember this happening as I was there the same day though never seen it.

If memory serves it was on the field opposite the Apollo.

Thanks for the reply Bert1!

Thanks for the info. God love her! She would have been 79 today had she still been alive, mad to think she passed away 62 years ago. RIP

I remember in the early 1980’s at the start of the summer holidays, shops would start displaying Come to the fair posters and around the railings on the roundabout at Moreton cross boards with posters advertising the fair would appear.

Your right! The Fair would alternate between the car park across the road from the Apollo club and the field on just before Leasowe Lighthouse.

The excitement I’d get when I got to the peak of Moreton station and see the Egg wheel, my legs couldn’t get me down to the shore quick enough! I remember the rides cost 20p a ride.

Just really sad that there is little to no memories online other than the unfortunate accidents!

Brilliant!! Thanks for sharing the link, had a brief read on my lunch and looking forward to getting a chance to sit down and properly have a good read! What a great book and can’t wait to learn more about Walli’s and the fair!
