What's going on here? I noticed piles of soil outside the explosion site today?
Don't tell me they are starting work on the reconstruction.
Or even more unlikely, building raised raised beds to deter Wirral's taxi drivers who use it as a short cut.

First phase is building 34 apartments on the bomb site, planning permission was granted in April. Another opportunity for investors, financiers and developers to make a killing.
I wouldn't be surprised if public money will be used for site preparation.

There was a plan to use half the car park for more cheap barrack for the plebs. Is that still going ahead?
That seemed to me to throw away the one advantage New Ferry has as a shopping centre. No doubt they'll start charging for it to finish the place off completely.
I went to a public meeting where suggestions were invited from the public. Nobody suggested more housing but it was clear that that would be what would happen.
For fun, I suggested a spaceport. It was meant as a joke and taken as one, but from what I can make out the final master plan is every bit as idiotic.

There was a plan to use half the car park for more cheap barrack for the plebs. Is that still going ahead? As usual that will be down to the developers. The Council, agree a plan with developers, the developers then cherry pick what they do first choosing the most lucrative parts of the contract, then walk away when the pickings become a bit thinner. Next a developer comes along and says its not financially viable and coerce the Council into agreeing for a more lucrative agreement like additional buildings that wouldn't have originally got planning permission or dropping affordable housing requirements or obtaining public grants. Council end up stuck between a rock and a hard place and then have the Government breathing down their neck for lack of progress or not meeting targets. A Government take over is disastrous, apart from the tens or hundreds of millions in fees the Council gets charged by the Government for their consultants, they just close everything down the Council pays for and extract as much money as possible like increasing fees that charities pay. We don't have Local Council's any longer, we only have reluctant Government puppets.
