Sounds bad . I've always admired him and his passion for Liverpool. Certainly I think built up Liverpool to become what it is today. Exciting and vibrant city. We'll have to see what happens next .

I didn't used to like his ways but I think he has improved considerably over the years with a genuine passion for Liverpool to succeed. Its one of the more difficult Councils to lead and you do need to be pretty hard headed.
No big money tendering processes are 100% clean but when your card gets marked ....

I would like to know what they think he did regarding witness intimidation.
He has been under investigation for a while now. Let's just hope it is the crowd he was with and not involved.

I think we all remember Hatton in the way the media and Tories portrayed him. Since then documents have been released showing what he was fighting against and what he was achieving, like Scargill and many others, he was right to fight and dig his heels in. I'm not saying he was goody two shoes but overall he probably did more good than harm in his attempts to both fight against the Government's attempts to decline the north and expose them for what they were. Derek Hatton is the 72 year old that was also arrested with Anderson.

Derek Hatton mearly brought the city to it's knees. Add to that he wanted to pull down St. Geroges Hall and build a multi-story car park on the site.
He was a self admitted Trotskyite, like the same gang behind Corbyn now.
Liverpool has had corruption stamped all over it from deals over the decades. The
ski -run that was built alongside the motorway going into Kirby. Accidents all over the place. The developer for that went to prison for corrupt dealings with council officials. He used to bank with the bank I worked in.
Hatton changed the rules accordingly , time and time again. He was bad. Nothing good about him.

Just found this. "Andy Barr, 46, the council's assistant director of highways and planning, and the mayor's son David Anderson, 33, were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit bribery and witness intimidation. A 25-year-old man from Ormskirk was also arrested on suspicion of witness intimidation." His son being involved doesn't look good. This all looks dodgy. The Mayors son, David Anderson has a few companies. One of them, SSC (SAFETY SUPPORT CONSULTANTS LIMITED), has done work in Liverpool on the £3.5 million A57 Kensington/Prescot Road scheme that HA Civils was contractor on, and the £6.8 million Churchill Way Flyover demolition, both of which SSC worked on. There was a FOI request to Liverpool City Council, asking if there were any conflicts of interest regarding his company getting the work. Their response was: "Several meetings have taken place between SSC on behalf of Amey Consulting and the City Council in relation to various projects such as the Churchill Way Flyovers and the Highways Investment Programme. However, as detailed above, SSC were engaged as Amey’s sub-contractor and there was no contractual relationship between SSC and the City Council." It makes me think Amey got the contract, only if they awarded the sub-contract to SSC. I can find 7 companies that he is the director of, 5 of which were started this year. I might be being cynical here, but it seem a little fishy. Maybe the reason for prime sites chosen for housing throughout Wirral. It all comes under Merseyside and rotten deals.
