About 5 years ago, I had some paint mixed to a sample, it was done by a chap in (I think Quarry Bank Estate) off Oxton Road, he's not there any more, does anybody know if he moved somewhere else or just packed it in, any advice welcome. (if you have a tin of pre 1928 GWR Green so much the better) most of the firms now only mix to the paint number on your car which is not much use to me.

Most paint providers these days can scan an existing colour and reproduce it.
Quarrybank was classic car paints, I'm trying to remember the other location they were at, one of the mini business units by the docks iirc but I think they have gone anyway.
Colourtone in Bromborough are the biggest company I can think of and do a variety of different paints.

"RailMatch 600" seems to be the colour you're after, a few places on the interbutts do those 15ml tins of enamel for about £3.30. The Kit Stop in Oxton Road might even have some in.

I bought some Railmatch pre 28 green, it was far too dark, I believe as DD says, you can scan the existing paint colour, but I can't find anyone that does it.

I think people like B&Q will scan a colour and claim to be able to mix paint to match it. Bromborough paints do it too.
I am sceptical.
Texture is important, and the colour of the light on both can make them look quite different, whereas another colour will make them look near identical.
Also, all paints fade and age and their colours change at different rates.

Colourtone in Bromborough .... I took a small part from my 1964 Honda bike and they matched it with one of 1000's of colour chips - I think it was £13 for the aerosol and it matched perfectly.
