Message put out tonight on NewsNow. To all our readers in the EU This Thursday we need your help. This morning, the European Parliament will vote on a new copyright directive. If approved, these changes threaten to disrupt the open Internet that NewsNow is a part of. You have time to act. Join the discussion. Thank you. I don't understand what it all means . Would it be another way to control the media and only allow media reports that could not be argued ? Maybe someone can explain, please. Is it good or bad fro freedom of speech etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directive_on_Copyright_in_the_Digital_Single_Market

As with many EU proposals, the principles of what they propose are not totally unreasonable however what they are proposing to implement is completely unrealistic and irresponsible.
If they want to control the large monopolistic enterprises like Google etc, they should do it under monopoly powers wimp out at taking Google on and instead hit every man and his dog at the same time.
There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music.
