Does anyone know what happened about the creation of a Wirral 'let your dog run loose safely ' dog park that was talked about on here a while back. Did it come to fruition?

Don’t think the Seacombe/Egremont got anywhere however at least one, maybe two are in operation in the southern part of the Wirral.

One of the nice things about Ness Gardens is their no-dog policy. You don't have to look out for dogshit everywhere as you seem to have to do almost everywhere else.

I have yet to meet a dog-owner who doesn't claim to pick it up, but on the evidence most don't!

Certainly not enough of them do Ex . A lot of the blame (imho) is the people who walk dogs to the fields etc, am and pm without a torch and obviously without the intention of looking for anything to pick up.See them sneaking into the park and letting the dog/s off. They cant even see their dog let alone a dog poo!

I'd say most dog walkers do pick up the mess but as usual its the few that give a bad reputation to the many.

It would seem obvious that if someone is caught not cleaning up their dog's mess, the punishment should be to get community service consisting of picking up dog mess - get them used to the idea.

Unfortunately some of the enforcers are unrealistic, if they find a poo in the region that another dog did a wee they accuse that owner of not picking up the mess even though its stone cold and totally the wrong size for the dog which makes me worry about their accuracy on more marginal cases.

Royden Park and Turdaston Common seem to be places dogs run free and jump up at you to the delight of their owners who think everyone must really appreciate their dogs muddy paws all over you. I know many owners do pick up but not so easy when the dog has bounded off and crapped amongst the fern and bracken. The cafe in Royden courtyard affectionately called The Barking Mad Cafe....cheap bacon butties, tea and coffee. Was really enjoying the last one i had there until the dog under the next table decided to vomit all over the place... Suppose i am just a miserable old git who doesnt like dogs..for much longer than 30 seconds.

I've had the opposite, people who go out their way to stroke your dog then complain when they get covered in mud.

Generally, if you totally ignore a dogs presence it won't jump up at you.

Without dog walking most of these places would cease to exist, it keeps the usage numbers up.
