Hi, we are looking for a service which offers free removal of unwanted household furniture. We have an issue in that there are no attaching BS fire safety labels, which obviously does not make things easier. Is anyone aware of any person or organisation who's willing to collect free of charge, without the need for BS fire labels? Many thanks.

Its only soft furnishings they won't take without a fire label(eg, sofas), wooden furniture in decent condition is taken by all the charity shops.

I don't think this applies to Cyprus though?

If its unlabelled soft furnishings ,price the council removal service against private van and man , sometimes theyre cheaper. ,

I think its got to be 6 items for 60.00 Venice , not sure but i think they still charge a fee.

Think it was £26 for six items when I used the Eric service last year, much cheaper than some of these men with vans wanted to charge.

Man and Van removal types don't generally do disposals because they aren't allowed to use the council tip, the ones that do may well be the ones that dump things in country lanes otherwise they would have to pay for private/commercial disposal.

Generally I've found rubbish/waste collectors to be of reasonable value, certainly a lot cheaper than skips.

Advertising items free on Gumtree, Facebook, Preloved, freecycle, etc can get rid of a lot of items.

Eric (Wirral Council's large item collection) is now £26.50 for up to 6 items.

A legit way is to hire a man and big car or trailer and travel with them to the tip where YOU can dispose of YOUR household goods free of charge.. . You obviously gotta pay driver though. Lot depends on quantity of stuff.

It costs £170 per tonne to get rid of rubbish with a minimum half tonne load and unless you have a license you cannot dispose of it hence all the idiots dumping rubbish everywhere.

It`s a very costly service which is why `man & van` services cost so much.

The ones on facebook doing it for £20 are sure to land you in trouble as it is YOUR responsibility if they dump it in the side street not just theirs, they have their van crushed as well as a fine and possible prison sentence and you face a possible prison sentence and fine.

What some of them do is just fill the van up at £20 a go and when its full take it the tip pay the fee and keep the profit. Transit van full of timber costs £115, full of rubble its £50 but it goes up to £350 for non recyclable stuff.

There is no way on earth anyone could possibly fill a van and charge £20 legally.

Plus if they don't have a license they cannot use ANY disposal site as it's illegal and the disposal sites wont let them in.

If someone moves 4 ton of crap they aren't just going to charge the tip fees are they?

In essence the law is saying if Mrs Jones (or my mum or dad) round the corner asks me to take something to the tip for them and just happens to give me say £20 for doing it..then a) i have to pay to dispose of it and b) i need to have a waste carriers licence! However if Mrs Jones takes it the tip herself then its free of charge.
Not sure how this would stand up legally:...I cut customers grass/shrubs etc and purchase the cut grass and stuff off them to make compost for say £0.10p. The stuff is now mine which i then decide i no longer want and drop off at tip. If asked at tip if its my stuff i can say yes. When your living on or below the breadline you try any loophole necessary

You cannot even pay to go the tip without registering and showing your licence.

What you're suggesting is ludicrous as the rubbish has to be sorted and there's not enough time in the day.

So anyone who is using these idiots off Facebook or "man & van" £20 rubbish services are contributing to flytipping.

Small businesses as you put it pay other businesses to dispose of the rubbish Legally and add it on the final bill so it doesn't cost them anything.

My Husband has a small van and a permit for both Wallasey and Bromborough and go,s regular to dispose of household waste and old fridges /teles/ cooker/old furniture .

Yes and i have a permit (didnt cost me anything). Allows 12 trips. Only needed it because trailer i got off ebay was 4 inches too long. I would never fly tip anywhere.

The tip Charging £7 a black bin bag full of plasterboard probably leads to fly tipping
