St Helens

Taylor Park

A place where residents flock when it snows, Taylor Park offers gentle, wide slopes, perfect for sledging.

Sherdley Park, St Helens

Sherdley Park's fabulous hills which are long and gentle make it a great place to visit when it's snowing.

Safety Tips

Sledging can be a great pastime when its snowing, but make sure you follow the following safety to keep the kids safe.

Avoid sledging in hazardous areas such as hills near roads, pavements or water.
Equally, be careful of obstructions that you could run into such as walls and trees
Young children should wear a helmet to help prevent head injuries.
Only go sledging in daylight - it's impossible to sledge safely if you can't see where you're going.
Wrap up warm, wear gloves and scarves (and a hat if a helmet is being worn.)
Sledging head first is more dangerous, so encourage children to avoid doing this.

Mersey Park in Tranmere has fairly long open slopes but tends to be on the leeward side so needs a decent snowfall.

Yes, disappointing. It tried hard but not fast and furious. Should have gone to Wales with the Wirral Ramblers. Did you see them on the news ? Daft bats !

Snow everywhere, the coach couldn't get up the hill, and they were determined to do their walk. Hope they didn't get cut off.

Funnily enough, the night before one of the ramblers asked if there was a contingency plan.
