Yes much easier to see Ashbrook Terrace. This map is about fifty years younger, and you can see more buildings beginning to appear.

I wonder what Wirral College was? It stood roughly where Tesco stands now.

Here are a couple more old maps showing the brook. The first is 1819, by Christopher Greenwood, the second (which is not quite stitched together) is 1831 by William Andrewes Bryant.

My parent's have lived in one of the houses on Princes Boulevard where the garden backs onto the brook since 1978. We spent many summer afternoon's playing in it.

I asked my Dad last night and he thinks it was called the River Withert and thinks it is marked as such on the title deeds to the house, he is going to dig them out and confirm for me.

Very good, the Withert was named once before CLICKY I thought I recognised the name. It ties in with Withert Avenue which was a strange name

Drove along Old Chester road near beb station couple times this week and if you look into the some of the roads between Town Lane and Kings lane there is a very pronounced dip which would suggest the actual steam position

Derekdwc's new post about downloadable pdfs of the Cheshire Historian magazine (posted today, Sept 26) ...

https://www.wikiwirral.co.uk/forums...le-pdfs-from-cheshire-local-history.html

... contains an article which seems to describe the brook in question.

It is in Volume 7, 1957 and entitled The Changing Scene in the Township of Higher Bebington, Wirral, by Graham F A Wilmot. Here's a screen shot ...
